CURRENT BUILDING

A new Kainai Administration building will address the urgent need for a modern, efficient, and culturally significant facility to support the Blood Tribe’s governance and community services. A BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE

This building has been shaped by the vision of Administration and Elders, ensuring it meets the needs and desires of our people. It is being designed for future growth and adaptability, with flexible spaces and sustainable, resilient, and inclusive features. We encourage everyone to stay informed and get involved as we move forward.

SUSTAINABILITY

SUSTAINABILITY

The building is being designed with climate resiliency, sustainable practises, and remote and rural considerations to ensure we reduce our impact on the environment and climate. This helps ensure we have infrastructure that will last into the future.

Here are some sustainable and climate resiliency strategies being explored:

  • Building form to provide shelter from west and north winds and integrating it within the landscape

  • Winter design considerations for building form and orientation

  • Energy efficiency in HVAC and lighting systems, insulation and weather proofing, higher energy rated windows, doors, and appliances

  • Use of durable and resilient internal and exterior finishes

  • Water conservation through low-flow/efficient fixtures, onsite water management strategies, and drought resistant landscaping

  • Renewable energy sources

The vision for this building is to promote interaction and harmony with the environment.
